- I added a new link for B. Zedan's "Space Goth" strip. It's a fairly new strip, so you can read the archive in one sitting.

- Strip up a little slow, but there it is. Found a home (moving in two weeks from now) but still no job yet.

- Where have I been? Job hunting, that's where. No success yet, though I have many leads. In other news, I'll be returning to the regularly scheduled story arc on Monday, September 26. Sorry to keep you waiting, but you know what they say about life and plans.

- Found a couple of good prospects in the house hunt. Now we just have to go back past them at night and see if we feel safe walking from the Metro to the front door.

- Got my air freight delivered today, which means I once again have access to all my Turkish CDs. Specifically, I have my copy of Kurban's newest album, Insanlar ("Humans," for you non-Turkish speakers). No, it's not really goth music per se, but it does rock very hard. If you poke around on the internet, you'll find some of their free mp3s with minimal effort.

- The new computer is ordered, and should be arriving on Monday or Tuesday. Until then, it's house hunting and job searches. The fun part of house hunting is that I get to tell people I'm doing "nighttime drive-bys" with a straight face (or is that "drives-by"?).

- I'm BAAAAAACK! I'm back in DC. Today I rode the Metro, I rode the bus, I walked in Malcolm X Park, I ate Thai food. I feel so at home now. Now I just need to buy a laptop so I can keep updating Alas without having to sit around at the Georgetown Public Library waiting for an open terminal.

- It's been a few days, and the lake-side life of upstate New York has not lost its charm. Too bad it can't last.

Thursday, August 11, 2005 -- 05:53:57 PM
- I'm now hanging out at a 19th century cabin on the northern end of Cayuga Lake, NY, checking out the public library and contemplating the perfect spot on the lawn for a croquet set. I'll probably go see a single-A baseball game this weekend-- how very, very Americana, yes? Our return to DC is less than two weeks away.
