- Monster films can make good date movies. The film Monster, not so much. I have higher hopes for Shaolin Soccer, though.

- On Friday night I went out to see Carrie Potter and the Half-Blood Prom, a cross between a Stephen King rock opera and a fanfic gone horribly wrong. While I feel they could have done without the improv elements, the music was rockin' and the cast delivered the funny. It was punk theater-- short, fast, messy, ultimately enjoyable. I'm still singing the "Transition Song" and "Three Weeks Later." If you're in DC and have the time, it's still running for another three weekends. It's better than TV!

- You know what? Never mind that mopey "I've lost touch with anime" jive. The weather this morning is awesome. One half of the sky is bright, one half is full of dark, menacing clouds that could be planning anything. It's cool enough for a coat, but warm enough to leave it open. A dramatic wind stirs everything. In short, it's perfect trenchcoat weather. I haven't had a decent trenchcoat in a couple years, but if I did, this would be the morning for it.

- There's an anime con this weekend, the first I've had the opportunity to attend in three years, and I just don't feel like going. I should feel sadder about it. Where's my Sapporo?

- My efforts to recycle only seem to make it as far as the curb. What the DC government does with it after that is a mystery.

- I'm on a roll with the double dactyls today:
Bingity bangety
Richard "the Veep" Cheney
Vocal proponent of
Going to war
Few would describe him as
Circumlocutory
Still, he neglected to
Simply say, "Fore!"

- Pumpety thumpety
Martyr St. Valentine
Purged Lupercalian
Feast-days of sin.
Eros and agape
Yet want supremacy;
Philatelogically
Hallmark will win.

- No new snow, but it's colder today-- too cold to make a snowball. My neighborhood now lies under a thin sheet of ice. Fortunately, I don't have to drive in it.

- I added a new image to the Wasted Views section. It's not exactly fan art, though I can say with certainty the person who drew the picture digs me.
